Math Bootcamp 6/1/20: Angles pt.2

hey guys welcome back Center in math boot camp So today we're continuing our exploration of geometry and we're going to continue with parallel lines and transversal so let's get into some of these problems that we have right now the very first problem is asking me to list one pair of alternate interior angles and of course all these questions one through six pertaining to this image right over here so just to break down and go looking at we have two parallel lines here a line G and we have line H and they're parallel because they run side-by-side so those are parallel lines and then we have our bristle which is this line right here which intersects two or more lines right in this case we have two lines intersecting them and so that's what we're talking about when we use those terms so now let's take a look go ahead and reset speaker bar board question about one pair of alternate interior angles so that means that the angles have to be within the parallel lines right so happy with it here and there alternate interior angles right so one answer that angle and angle 6 that's the one that I choose for them you could have also chose 5 and 3 as an option and question number two is asking us which angle corresponds to angle 7 angle 7 is right here that's what they're talking about when they say corresponds they're talkin about which angle has the same measurement so in this case we have angle 7 right here and another angle that has the exact same measurement as angle number seven is angle number three for this angle right here also has the exact same measurement I want to go ahead and write that down here incredi now they're telling us that if angle M side of angle 3 equals 80 degrees what is angle 8 so let's see we have an angle 3 over here which is side measures 80 degrees and we determined that angle 3 and angle 7 are corresponding angles meaning that they have the exact same measurement so three measures 80° 7 also measures 80° and so we also know that this angle which is a flat angle to straight line has to measure a total of 180 degrees so if angle 7 measures 80, Smith angle 8 measure 100 degrees 180 degrees this one it's a hundred degrees and four number four they're asking us to list one pair of alternate exterior angles so let's go ahead and clear our board and so when they talking about exterior angles they're talking about that are outside of these parallel lines right so one pair is going to be this one right here one and seven angle 1 and angle of course you can list whichever one you prefer if you prefer to list to an eight that's totally fine as well the number 5 is asking us to list one pair of vertical angles and so what that means is that when a line is intersected it creates a vertical angles meaning these two regular five and seven those are vertical angles for example same thing for 6 and 8 these are vertical angles and the same goes for the angles up above so the ones that I chose was 5 and 7 angle 5 and angle 7 and again that's created when a line is intersect at right so once it's intersected we know that the angles right here and right here those are going to be the exact same measurement and the other ones are going to be right here and right now those are the exact same measurement let's go back to our questions and it's asking us which angle corresponds to angle eat that has the exact same measurement there's a couple right I listed for for my answer for has the exact same measurement of course there are other angles so you can also do you prefer japangle for okay so now that you're done with that let's clear up our board and let's move down to the bottom half of the question super number 7 all the questions are referring to picture of you have read up above here and so we have two lines that are intersecting and it's creating four angles for us see what the question is asking if the measure of angle 3 is 75 what is the measure of angle 1 and so we know that if this angle is 75 degrees then this angle must also be 75 degrees just above here when we were talking about vertical angles right some of this case one angle 1 and angle 3 are both vertical angles exact same measurement and so we can answer this down here answers be 75 degrees all right now it's go to question number eight which is asking this which of the following is a true statement about corresponding angles ain't that are supplementary angles are in the same position with respect to both parallel lines they are also alternate interior angles are also alternative your angles or they are also complementary angles and send this case was true is going to be there in the same position with respect to both parallel services for correspond Ingles and now it's move on to question number 9 so the diagram above number 9 is we're going to be referring to in solving this problem and so 9 is asking us the measure of angle 7 is 115 what is the measure of angle for 115 we know that 3 must also be 115 rent corresponding angles have the exact same measurement now I also know that from here to here has to equal a total of 180 degrees right so if I have a hundred eighty degrees and I subtract angle 3 I'm going to get the measurement for angle form so I take 115 and I subtracted from 180 and give me a total of 65 and 6 degrees is my answer for number nine we have our answer there let's move down to number 10 which is asking us which of the following angles is equal in measure to Ingles we have to go back to a diagram here so this is angle 2 and so I'm going to go ahead and Mark all the angles that have the same measurement. angle for has the same measurement angle 6 has the same measurement and angle 8 foot see which ones those are down here so I'm looking for their two for six or eight the only option here is going to be 8 all right and so now that we have that covered we've gone over parallel lines two angles they create when they're intersected by transversal and we've also played around a little bit with these diagrams and figured out which angles are going to have the exact same whether they're vertical angles or is it going to be corresponding angles like 2 and 8 Friday also learned that if two angles are outside of the parallel so things are outside of bees lines here or here and those are going to be exterior angles and when the angles all within the parallel lines those are called interior angles so it's a little bit of are the foundation of this material and we're going to go ahead and build upon that as we continue on so hopefully this was helpful and I hope
