are you guys welcome back to another math Bridge lesson they were talking about doing math with metrics so we can talk about the metric system for the past couple of days getting to understand it if not with the fixes different quantities and appropriate tools for measuring different things such as Lane time distance waves and such and such a week and do some math with it herb Jackson today is to use addition subtraction multiplication division of metric measurements to solve real-world problems okay so they want us to always reduce our answer to the smallest units click on the conversion charts below to see the values of different okay don't reminder standing for example does minor saying right if the answer was for example not not that this is a metric unit at all but understanding of this would be like if the answer was one day they want us to reduce it to how many minutes that is that's why I said let's see when you guys if you guys have your phones out and I ran out a picture of this she has to have it for real for reference this is in relation to the distance or this would be weights volume smallest unit alright okay give us some examples so you can see what they mean by smallest unit so now we begin doing some math using measurements adding metric measurements to be sure the measurements you add are same time example you cannot add Desi G to CG so, so they want us the kind of like when we're doing addition or subtraction of fractions they want the same denominator kind of like I guess an example could be like if you're adding money up they wouldn't want his adding dollars with coins even though we totally could do that right they want us to converted all 21 unit of measurement for example all coins and then added up together right really blood save if we were doing measurements in Heights make it all inches and add it all together but in real life that you can you can add things of different measurements right I can for example take I don't know I can take a a pound of beef and then by 4 oz of beef I have a lb and 4 oz even though one is in pounds the other ones announces but that's perfectly fine I wouldn't have to say oh I have 20 oz of beef a pound and a quarter of beef okay this one we can't do this one yeah but this this is you know this is not have customary and metric my gal gal is what we're used to write you know it's on a different scale so that's why you know you can't combine those two together it's like what the temperature right now in Psych let's see if it's 0 degrees C two more degrees Fahrenheit to that you can't you two conversions the first one is going to be from DL to L and that's going to be tenfold smaller the numerical value so 74 I take the decimal when I move it one spot over that becomes 7.4 now I'm at L I have to make one more Judgment of the decimal to left and now I'm at Dal did I take all my values on the far right 54 + 6.5 + 2 + 74 + what is the total amount of motor oil in the store when it closed in dal so is there anyone who wants to guide me through this one just instruct me the closest one is in one volunteer or at least or even if you're not sure from start to finish just got me we're looking at the DL right that has 36 DL question is how many times am I going to move the decimal point over to the left in order to convert from DL to DAL 2.36 perfect so now I can add these numbers up to get right no out of the whole numbers first 11 + 1 is 12 and then silver coins right $0.80 + 3620 of those scents from the 36th are going to help me form a dollar for this 12 is going to go up to 13 now I have the remaining $0.16 from the $0.36 so this would be 16 and there's no mention of any money we're just talkin oil here but again when one can I see decimals I just think of coins right cuz that's yeah that's the most common place I see decimals right is when your grocery shopping or whatever you know so that I can get it but you can whatever makes the most sense for you great realize that oh that's on us to figure out how do you figure out is by subtracting opening inventory from the closing inventory not to let us know how many were sold okay so great now we have the
