Contra Dancing is a form of American folk dancing, somewhat similar to Square Dancing, but done in long lines with partners "across" from you (hence, "contra").
Contra Dancing always involves live music, a caller who "calls out" the steps and/or patterns that you need to move to the music, down the dance hall, while greeting neighbors in a fun, healthy, community-oriented activity.
No dance experience is necessary for Contra Dancing, although we provide a 30-minute basics course prior to the start of the event. Mid-time snacks are provided, and don't forget to join us for our "after-party" meet ups at local late night eateries.
