CULVER CITY, CA – Culver City Adult School earned accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) after a comprehensive evaluation of its instructional programs, leadership practices and student support systems, culminating Jan. 29.

The recognition followed a months-long review that included an extensive self-study in which faculty and staff evaluated the school’s approach to instruction, student support, leadership and overall effectiveness. After reviewing the report, a WASC visiting committee conducted an on-site evaluation, meeting with staff and students, observing classrooms and closely examining the school’s systems and practices.

“This milestone reflects months of dedication from our faculty and staff as we carefully examine how we serve our students and where we can continue growing,” Culver City Adult School Principal Dr. Paul Karaiakoubian said. “We are especially proud to have received the strongest accreditation results in the school’s history and grateful to WASC for the thorough review and insight throughout the process. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and our shared commitment to expanding opportunities for adult learners.”

The committee’s review assessed how effectively the school meets WASC standards across areas including leadership and governance, curriculum and instruction, assessment practices, faculty development, resource allocation and systems supporting student success. Evaluators also highlighted the school’s collaborative culture and the staff’s commitment to student achievement and career advancement. The review resulted in the strongest accreditation results in Culver City Adult School’s history, with nearly every area of the school rated “Highly Effective.”

WASC requires schools to demonstrate clear mission alignment, strong leadership, qualified faculty and staff and effective systems that support student achievement and well-being. Accredited institutions must also show evidence of continuous improvement and accountability through data-informed decision-making and responsible stewardship of resources. The accreditation is valid for six years, the longest term awarded through WASC’s review cycle.

“On behalf of the Board of Education and myself, I commend the entire Culver City Adult School team for their outstanding dedication to expanding opportunities for adult learners,” Culver City Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez said. “This achievement reflects the strength of their work and their commitment to creating transformational opportunities for adult learners. Their efforts help cultivate confidence, expand skills and open pathways that empower individuals and strengthen the future of our community.”
