Culver City Adult School (CCAS) is proud to introduce a Career Technical Education pathway in the healthcare field. CCAS’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Program will enable adult students to learn critical coursework and skills to prepare to take the CCMA national exam.
Medical assistants work as part of healthcare teams in various medical offices, hospitals, clinics, and other diverse medical settings. Some tasks they support include taking patients’ vital signs, helping with exams and procedures, and administering injections or needed medications. In addition, they may support office functions such as checking in and out patients, answering phones, and providing information. Medical assistants are qualified to update and maintain patients’ records, perform EKGs, take blood, or assist with other lab procedures.
This opportunity to sponsor the CCMA Program is made possible by directing the English Language Learner Healthcare Pathway Grant and other CAEP funds to support adult student learners. CCAS is grateful for its partnership with Loyola Marymount University Extension to provide the online course content, and for its partnership with SoCal Regional Occupational Center for the hands-on opportunities students will experience in a healthcare state-of-the-art facility.
