The Culver City Adult School-sponsored Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program application is now available. Priority will be given to current and past CCAS students and English learners. On September 4, 2024, students participated in an ESL conversation mixer across program levels to practice their English. They interviewed one another and contributed to building a community of learners.

The Department of Public Health has helpful reminders related to saying safe during times of extreme heat. Be certain take precautions to avoid heat-related illness. Become part of a healthcare team in a medical office, clinic, hospital, and other healthcare settings, and prepare to take the CCMA exam. Attend ONE information session at Culver City Adult School: (REPEAT SESSIONS) September 12, 2024, 4:00 p.m. or September 13, 2024, 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. DEADLINE TO APPLY: September 25, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. The program application for sponsorship WILL ONLY be available at the Culver City Adult School Information Sessions and through the Culver City Adult School website (to be posted on 9/6/24). Our district and school will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, in honor of Labor Day.

Welcome back to our Culver City Adult School students and staff. It is going to be a productive and successful semester for all as doors are opened to education, enrichment, and empowerment!

On August 22, 2024, Principal Dr. Cárdenas welcomed staff to the "CCAS All-Star Village" as a tribute to the summer Olympics' meeting theme. Newest members to the Team were presented with an Olympic torch as a symbol of peace, friendship, and unity. Superintendent Dr. Lucas visited to provide a warm welcome back message. Erin Fernandez provided goodies to staff on behalf of SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. To demonstrate being strong members of the community, staff visited the Wende Museum for a guided tour by Head of Education, Michael Balot-Garza, and also met the Museum's Founder/Executive Director, Justin Jampol. The day ended with teachers engaging in department meetings to plan engaging instruction for students' return on Monday.

We want to thank the staff at the Wende Museum for hosting our first ever “Night at the Museum” summer send off. We viewed the historical archive of art and culture reflecting on the Cold War era and its legacy. Guests also participated in a scavenger hunt challenge as they viewed exhibitions.

Our dedicated adult students prioritize learning over the summer. We are so proud of them for continuing faithfully on their learning journey with support from our top notch teachers.

Students in Teacher Brad's class are engaging in meaningful conversational English prompts the day after the 4th of July holiday. Way to prioritize learning at Culver City Adult School! Thank you to our amazing students for your dedication to one another as you learn and grow together.

The Summer Enrichment 4 Kids Program hosted by the Adult School is in full swing. Students are learning to create clay sculptures, make jewelry, and generate original superhero comic strips. Other students engage in team sports and are loving exploration of ocean zones while being introduced to seahorse mixed media art. In "Math for the Real World," students are designing and funding a dream home and planning for college. Great memories abound for students and teachers alike!

On May 29, 2024, Superintendent Dr. Brian Lucas was at CCAS to honor teachers and support staff with special Culver Pride hats, school district pins, and a delicious cake. He thanked the staff for their dedication to teaching and learning. Kelly, our Business Secretary received a pin for 15 years of service, and Tasha, our School Secretary received a pin for 20 years of service in the district. A special gift was presented to Adrian, our morning Custodian, for earning the title CCAS Classified Employee of the Year. Teacher Danny was presented a special gift for earning CCAS Teacher of the Year. CCAS is a great place to work and thrive as we support “Opening Doors to Education, Enrichment, and Empowerment.”

Today on Memorial Day, we take time to remember and express our gratitude to those who died defending our freedom. We reflect on the liberty that was achieved by those who sacrificed their lives.
