Dr. Hooper is teaching a 5-week non-credit college course at our school that includes: Academic Guidance; Introduction to College; and Computer Literacy. On April 26, 2025: Students in the Culver City Adult School’s Medical Assistant program had their final practicum day. They completed a final exam and continued to practice skills (injections, skin punctures, injections, and venipunctures) at stations under the supervision of SCROC staff. Students received certificates for completing the 4-day hands-on practicum that prepared them for success in a role as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Culver City Adult School Medical Assistant students participated in the first of four hands-on practicum days at SoCal Regional Occupational Center (SCROC). They practiced essential clinical skills such as proper hand washing techniques, correct use of gloves, and accurate measurement of vital signs. Throughout the practicum, students engaged in interactive partner activities, observed instructor-led demonstrations, and attended informative lectures with detailed explanations. By actively applying their skills in a controlled environment, students gain valuable experience that will help them prepare for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national certification exam, ensuring they meet industry standards for competency and professionalism. CCAS thanks our partners at SCROC for sharing their pristine facilities and experienced instructors as we prepare future healthcare professionals!

On March 7, 2025, Culver City Adult School Medical Assistant students gathered for a special lunch and medical kit distribution sponsored and hosted by the local Culver City Rotary Club. The Rotarians selected CCAS’s Medical Assistant program for a $3,000 district vocational grant and purchased supplies for all program students. Students will use the supplies during four 6-hour practicum days at So Cal Regional Occupational Center where they will gain nursing practical experience. Rotarian Carmela Raack congratulated students and reminded them that life is comprised of family, service, and one’s profession, and that they selected a profession that is service-oriented by choosing healthcare. Mrs. Raack also shared the inspirational quote, “Do all you can and then do a little more,” to encourage students along their educational, career-focused journey. Thank you, Culver City Rotarians for your generosity and ongoing support!

On February 28, 2025, Culver City Adult School hosted an orientation for their Medical Assistant students in preparation for 4 practicum days at SoCal Regional Occupational Center (SCROC). CMA Program Director Norlean Cedeno and Melissa Moore (CMA Instructor) from SCROC provided practicum details for students and CCAS Medical Assistant Support Instructor Richard Perkins. CCAS Principal Dr. Cardenas and AP Ian McCullen encouraged students to continue on their path to complete their coursework to be able to serve in the community as Medical Assistants soon.
